Our Head Chef, Joe Berry, has been awarded one of the restaurant industry’s highest accolades, having been accepted as a member of the Master Chefs of Great Britain (MCGB), the professional association for chefs.
Joe joins an exclusive line-up of chefs previously awarded Master Chefs of Great Britain status. These include the most notable head chefs, chef patrons and pastry chefs in the country such as celebrity chefs Brian Turner CBE, well known for his appearances on the BBC’s Ready, Steady Cook; Paul Gayler MBE, a regular on ITV’s This Morning, and Cyrus Todiwala OBE, a favourite on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen.
Chefs are invited to join the association following recommendation by other Master Chefs and are seen to be leaders in their field, meeting stringent professional criteria in order to be accepted. Joe was presented with his award at the annual Skills for Chefs Conference gala dinner which took place here at the University (Thursday, July 10th).
Joe commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been awarded Master Chef Great Britain Status, which is an accolade shared by fewer than 300 culinary professionals throughout the UK. I’ve got a great team at Inox Dine and I’m very excited to be working with many of the great local suppliers in and around Sheffield, showcasing their products on my menu every day for diners. Congratulations have been pouring in, it’s such an honour.”
Before becoming Head Chef at Inox Dine, Joe Berry was previously at Losehill House Hotel & Spa in Derbyshire and spent more than 12 years working in restaurants and cooking at the highest level in France, Switzerland and Canada. He returned to home turf to build a team of talented chefs aspiring to produce Rosette standard food.
